Commencement for 2018 will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark, NJ.
The 2018 Commencement speaker will be Christopher Jackson, an actor, musician, composer, and lyricist who in 2015 originated the role of President George Washington in the musical Hamilton on Broadway. The 2018 Heritage Award will be presented to Hudson Pride Center, the largest and only full-service LGBTQ center in the state of New Jersey.
Important Commencement Information for the Class of 2018
Congratulations on your upcoming graduation from Hudson County Community College! The Commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at NJPAC. If you plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony, please carefully note the following:
Guest TicketsEach graduating student will receive three (3) tickets. Each ticket admits one person – please be advised that tickets are required for small children, including infants. Tickets are free of charge.

Special NeedsIf you or a guest will need any special accommodations, such as a ramp to the stage or handicapped-accessible seating, please be advised that NJPAC is wheelchair accessible. If you or any of your guests have limited mobility or any special requirements, please let us know ahead of time by contacting the HCCC Office of Disability Support Services at (201) 360-4157 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
PhotographyYearbook photos will be taken on the following dates:
Please note that all sittings are by appointment only. It is free to take your picture for the yearbook. The purchase of photo packages is each student’s responsibility. Students will receive email to their HCCC student accounts with a link to register.
Commencement photos will be taken before and throughout the ceremony may be viewed several days after the ceremony at www.digiproofs.com (password: 051718HCCC). There is no guarantee that there will be individual pictures of each graduate.
In order to provide the best opportunity for a quality photograph to document the occasion, a professional photographer will be on stage during the Commencement ceremony to take a picture of each graduate with the President of the College as he/she receives the diploma.
Not only will graduating students have the best possible photograph of their accomplishment, their guests will be able to remain seated without the worry of getting close to the stage to "capture the moment."

Commencement LineupBecause no rehearsal is scheduled for Commencement, it is very important for graduates to report to NJPAC by 4 p.m. on May 17, 2018. (Use the entrance closest to Nico Kitchen & Bar). Doors will open for all guests at 5:30 p.m. for general admission seating. Guests should be in their seats no later than 5:45 p.m. so that they may view the academic procession, which begins promptly at 6 p.m. Please refrain from bringing valuables with you (e.g., purses, cameras, jackets, etc.) as no storage area will be designated for the ceremony.
Getting to NJPAC
Transportation will be provided to and from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark for graduates, faculty and staff of the College as well as family members. Please be advised that in order to board the bus:
A bus will depart the College at 1:00 p.m. for graduates and event volunteers. Buses will also depart the College at approximately 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. There will be one bus departing NJPAC at 9:00 p.m. For driving directions, please click here.
Student RegaliaCommencement 2018 student regalia will be made available starting on April 11 (North Hudson Campus) and April 19 (Journal Square Campus) at each respective Graduate Salute and will be available at the Bookstore following those dates. Pre-ordering is not necessary.Student Regalia - Special Package Pricing: $60.00 (includes hood, gown, cap and tassel).
Please do not wait until the last minute to pick up your Commencement Regalia, to ensure that your required size will be available. There will be limited Commencement Regalia sets available for purchase at the ceremony. We recommend that you press the gown with an iron before the ceremony. While you're at the Bookstore picking up your regalia, ask an associate about the special items available for purchase to help commemorate your special day.
Faculty and Staff Regalia
All faculty and staff regalia must be ordered through the College Store. The rental fee will be covered by the College for full-time faculty only. The rental fees for all others must be paid directly to the Bookstore at the time of the order. The store accepts cash, credit card, check, and departmental purchase orders.
The fee for the sets (includes gown, hood, and cap) are as follows:
Regalia must be ordered in person at the Campus Store at Journal Square. Measurements are required for all first-time orders. The store hours are Monday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The regalia are expected to arrive at the Campus Store by in early May. The Campus Store will contact you when your order arrives for pickup. Delivery to the North Hudson Bookstore can be arranged.
The deadline for orders is Tuesday, April 17.
Because the regalia are rentals, all must be returned to the Campus Store as soon as possible. Representatives from the store will be in the VIP Room at NJPAC for a short period of time after the Commencement ceremony. You may drop off your regalia at that time.

Ceremony Decorum & Courtesy
Please note that out of respect to fellow graduates, students who participate in Hudson County Community College’s Commencement ceremony are expected to be present for the entire ceremony and will not be allowed to depart before the recessional. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
