2010 Pre-College Summer Program
What are the details of the EOF Summer Program?
The EOF Pre-College Summer Program is an intensive pre-college preparatory academic program designed to give first-time full-time college students a head start on their college career. The goal of the summer program is to introduce initial students to the academic and social demands of college life, as well as prepare students for the transition into their Fall semester. The summer program runs for one month only (July 6th- August 5th) with classes meeting Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Students who attend the EOF summer program receive many benefits including:
- FREE enrichment classes in Reading, Writing and Math
- The opportunity to advance or test out of basic skills classes in these subjects
- FREE in-class tutoring in these subjects
- The opportunity to meet fellow EOF students who will also be participating in the summer program
- The opportunity to learn the campus and meet HCCC faculty and administration
- Summer trips, activities and workshops
- Advisement and support from a personal EOF advisor throughout the summer including individualized Fall semester class registration
- The opportunity to receive academic year EOF financial aid grant(s) valued up to $1050 a year upon successful completion of the EOF Pre-College Summer Program and official approval from the State
Who is eligible for the EOF Pre-College Summer program?
In order to be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:
- Be a first-time college student ( graduating high school in 2010 or never attended any previous college )
- Complete the HCCC College Placement Test and place into Academic Foundations or at least ESL Level III – ( click here for information about the HCCC College Placement Test )
- Meet the financial eligibility requirements as defined by the State of New Jersey – ( click here for the EOF STATE INCOME ELIGIBILITY SCALE )
- Have been a New Jersey resident for at least one year Complete the 2010-11 FAFSA form – ( click here to for FAFSA website ) Submit a complete EOF Pre-College Summer Program Application and submit all required documentation Register for a full-time (enrolled in at least 12 credits) schedule for the Fall 2010 semester
How do I apply for the summer program?
Space in the 2010 EOF Pre-College Summer Program is limited. In order to be considered for the EOF Pre-College Summer Program, students must complete the following steps:
- Current High School Transcript, Completed High School Transcript/Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Source of Income for the previous two years: 2009 and 2008
- 2010-2011 Student Aid Report (SAR)
- 2010-2011 Student Eligibility Notice (SEN)
- Social Security Card and/or Resident Alien Card
- Dependent or Independent Verification Worksheet
- Photo ID
- Mortgage Statement* from December of 2009* from home or rental property
- Essay – minimum one-page typed essay explaining why you want to be part of the EOF Program
- Letter of Recommendation from High School Faculty member, High School Administrator, Employer or Clergy
* Only for students who own, or whose parents own their home or rental property
All completed applications are reviewed by a committee who will recommend students to be interviewed for an available slot in the 2010 EOF Pre-College Summer Program. Students who do not submit completed applications with all required documentation will not be considered for the summer program.
