Excel: Spreadsheets for Accounting

An understanding of accounting concepts is recommended but not required. Beginning with a short review of Excel formulas and functions, go on to learn how bookkeeping/accounting is done using spreadsheets. Learn various functions such as a trial balance, adjustments, an adjusted trial balance, income statement and balance sheet. Learn how to produce a stand-alone income statement and balance sheet, how to create a payroll as a spreadsheet, how to use formulas to calculate dependents and withholding taxes as appropriate. You will also learn how to create a loan calculator to calculate present value, future value, amortization tables and loan payment amounts. Finally, pivot tables will be reviewed and practiced as well. Prerequisite: Computers for Beginners and Basic Excel.. Tuition: $199. Meets Monday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (no class February 17).
