  • Welcome to the HCCC Center for Academic & Student Success Tutorial Services

Hudson County Community College wants to ensure that you will succeed in achieving your academic goals and in becoming an independent and efficient learner. Free assistance conducted by trained tutors is available for individuals and small groups in all subject areas.

You may receive up to two hours of tutoring each week. Tutors are not able to assist in correcting/proofreading homework or papers, but serving as guides, they may provide you with useful comments and suggestions.

We offer the following tutoring opportunities:

    • In-Class Tutoring, where our tutors attend each class session and work with instructors to provide students with support. In-class tutors are also available during designated hours at the HCCC Tutoring Center. In-class tutors are scheduled at the request of the instructor.
    • Group Tutoring is available to students for a specific course. Sessions are held immediately following day and prior to evening classes, often in the same classroom where the course is taught.
    • Exit/Final Exam Preparation is offered as a four-week workshop for students enrolled in Academic Foundations courses, higher-level ESL courses and some college-level courses during the Fall and Spring semesters. Click here to view our current schedule of Exam Preparation Workshops.
    • Conversation Sessions for ESL Students are conducted to help non-native English speakers improve their command of English.
    • Individualized Tutoring for Students with Learning Differences are one-on-one sessions where tutors help students address their learning difficulties and increase their understanding of the subject matter.

To arrange for tutoring, go to the Tutorial Services Office on the Journal Square and North Hudson Higher Education Center campuses. Fill out the Request for Tutorial Assistance Form and present it to a member of the Tutorial Services staff.
