Hudson County Community College (HCCC) serves more than 18,000 credit and non-credit students annually. The College offers nearly 90 degree and certificate programs, including award-winning English as a Second Language; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management; Nursing and Health Professions, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Position Summary / Job Description

Salary Grade: 117

The Development Manager is responsible for managing HCCC’s annual giving program and special events. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Advancement and Communications and other staff members to develop and implement strategies to generate sustainable funding streams for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, plan, execute, and evaluate donor cultivation events, fundraisers, and campus-wide events, including invitation development, timelines, and calendars, developing marketing materials, and working with volunteers and staff to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage post-event and post-campaign analysis and follow-up internally and externally.
  • Provide regular reports to the Vice President and Foundation Board of Directors on fundraising progress, trends, and strategies.
  • Work with the Vice President to develop and implement strategies for donor engagement, stewardship, retention, and growth.
  • Create personalized and targeted donor correspondence, donor briefing materials, collateral materials for solicitation purposes, stewardship letters, donor gift agreements, gift renewals, and letters of inquiry promptly.
  • Participate in community events and represent the organization to donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct donor research and create comprehensive profiles and bios using DonorSearch and iWave software.
  • Craft compelling appeals for mail and digital platforms, and synthesize appeal results.
  • Develop compelling sponsorship materials and pitch decks for effective solicitations.
  • Create donor-centered content for newsletters, the website, and press releases.
  • Routinely reconcile financial reports by accurately tracking net revenue and expenses against fundraising goals, while ensuring that all fundraising activities are cost-effective.
  • Identify, track, and engage volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising is required.
  • Experience effectively managing and organizing complex projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to present ideas and solutions for meeting goals and overcoming challenges.
  • Proven track record of securing philanthropic support from individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to work independently with a thoughtful approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience planning and executing fundraising events such as golf outings, galas, and annually occurring fixed events.
  • Capital campaign experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce, fundraising software, and near expert level experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to create PowerPoint presentations and slide decks, along with an aptitude for e-marketing tools.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
  • The Development Manager will work in an office environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for meetings and events.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • New Jersey residency is required within 1 year of accepting the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse population and to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
