Position Summary

The Manager of Web and Portal Services reports to the Vice President for Advancement and Communications (VPAC) and develops, supports, and maintains the College’s website and portal pages to ensure the accuracy and currency of the content. The Manager of Web and Portal Services is responsible for refining and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as business needs dictate; ongoing website and portal access management; and ensuring all website content and processes adhere to College policies and procedures. The Manager of Web and Portal Services will lead and supervise HCCC's website and partner with the VPAC, members of the Website Management Team, Communications Team, and HCCC faculty and staff more broadly, to ensure that all web-related projects are completed on time and to the highest possible standards while providing technical support and systems administration for the internal and external website and portal.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Makes the HCCC website engaging to all visitors, including students, employees, event attendees, donors, supporters, and advocates. The Manager of Web and Portal Services strategically tracks website traffic and integrates these data to our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database.
  • Facilitates the integration of email marketing with website in conjunction with the VPAC, Strategic Marketing Director, and Communications team.
  • Leads in establishing and maintaining best practices related to the College’s website and portal.
  • Oversees the creation and movement of content from the portal to the website.
  • Develops an authenticated web presence for proprietary information.
  • Works with the Director of Application Services to develop policies, standards, and workflows that support college communications and content management procedures for the College's website.
  • Seeks updated and accurate content on the College's main Internet and Intranet sites with an established cadence in coordination with the Website Management Team.
  • Utilizes necessary tools to monitor, analyze, package, and report web activity of significance.
  • Works with the VPAC and Communications Team to develop dynamic marketing campaigns and landing pages utilizing advanced web technologies.
  • Thoroughly documents custom-developed web processes, web software customizations, and interfaces developed to link to third-party software to Ellucian Customer Success Manager (CSM) web services.
  • Maintains a high level of technical expertise and stays abreast of current and developing trends in web-related technologies through professional reading, attending industry conferences, participating in professional development activities (training and education), and industry professional associations.
  • Work closely in all activities with the College’s Information Technology Services (ITS) team.

Required Key Competencies

  • Proficiency with various computer software programs and experience with Ellucian-Colleague or a similar higher education platform is preferred.
  • Demonstrable initiative and sound judgment.
  • High standards, integrity, adaptability, and comfort working in and thriving in a fast-paced environment.



  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Three years of directly related experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct Web Design experience is required.
  • Web Content Management System experience required, Ellucian Ektron WCMS experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain web pages using HTML and knowledge of Perl/PHP/CGI scripts and JavaScript required.
  • Basic web programming knowledge and experience with software such as Microsoft Windows server, Ektron, Sharepoint, IIS, Microsoft Office, Dream Weaver, GoLive, Macromedia Contribute, C#, JQuery, XSLT, and/or similar packages required.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for select projects as needed when identified by the VPAC.

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) serves more than 18,000 credit and non-credit students annually. The College offers nearly 80 degree and certificate programs, including award-winning English as a Second Language, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management, Nursing, and Health Sciences, and Fine and Performing Arts. The HCCC Culinary/Hospitality Management program was ranked number six in the U.S. by Best Choice Schools.

The Manager of Web and Portal Services will work onsite in-person at HCCC’s Journal Square and North Hudson campuses.
