Spanish in the Workplace

 

About This Class

This course is for those who interact with Spanish-speaking colleagues and/or clients in the workplace, and who are seeking basic conversational Spanish skills for use in their day-to-day communications. Emphasis is placed on oral communication and specific vocabulary used within a business context. This course is designed for those who have no or very little knowledge of Spanish.

Students will be able to: 

  • Gain cultural competency skills
  • Become proficient in workplace Spanish vocabulary
  • Be able to ask and in-take information to fill out documents pertaining to your business
  • Demonstrate an ability to engage in simple business (terminology) in Spanish
  • Increase active vocabulary by practicing conversations with authentic materials
  • Understand and answer basic questions and requests in Spanish
  • Understand vocabulary and expressions related to:
    • Agency Services and Benefits
    • Commonplace accidents, injuries, and emergencies
    • Safety Equipment

 

Preparation 

  • Pre and post assessment for all classes and students taking part in this program. 
  • Assessment scores from the TABE, Best Literacy, Customer Service Inventory and the NJCCC PC Skills assessment instruments will be compiled. 
  • Have basic computer knowledge  
  • Basic knowledge of video conference platforms
  • Internet connection
  • Laptop, Personal Computer, notebook
