About This Class
This class will look at seven basic problem-solving tools and two advanced tools (the
degrees of support and fishbone analysis). Creative thinking methods, including brainstorming
and “brainwriting,” will also be discussed.

Upon successful completion of the training the student will be able to:
- Apply problem solving steps and tools
- Analyze information to clearly describe problems
- Identify appropriate solutions
- Think creatively and be a contributing member of a problem solving team
- Select the best approach for making decisions
- Create a plan for implementing, evaluating, and following up on decisions
- Avoid common decision-making mistakes
Preparation
- Pre and post assessment for all classes and students taking part in this program.
- Assessment scores from the TABE, Best Literacy, Customer Service Inventory and the
NJCCC PC Skills assessment instruments will be compiled.
- Understand, read and write English language
- Have basic computer knowledge
- Basic knowledge of video conference platforms
- Internet connection
