Ecuador native Nathalie L. Torres created a path to success that began at Hudson County Community College.
Soon after graduating high school, Nathalie immigrated to America and enrolled in the College’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program. While taking ESL classes, Nathalie was able to enroll in bilingual courses, which helped her forge ahead with her college-level courses. In addition to pursuing her A.A.S. degree in Business Management, Nathalie worked as a Communications Assistant in the HCCC Communications Department. She was also an active member of the College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and was named to the Dean’s List.
Shortly before graduating from HCCC, Nathalie decided to explore the idea of pursuing a bachelor’s degree, as she had heard that her HCCC credits were easily transferable. During a weekend trip to Kentucky, she toured the University of Louisville campus. Soon after applying, she was accepted, awarded a full scholarship, and ALL of her HCCC credits transferred.
In 2014, Nathalie graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.S.B.A in Accounting. While there, she was a member of the Beta Alpha Psi International Honorary Organization, was named to the Dean’s List, and did community service at Brooklawn Child & Family Services and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Since October 2014, Nathalie has been working as an audit associate at KPMG, LLP in New York City.
“Hudson County Community College gave me the opportunity of my life,” states Nathalie.
“I would have never had such great achievements if not for the support of HCCC’s faculty and staff. Hudson County Community College really did open a world of possibilities for me. Thank you!”
