Online Student Complaints

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) is approved to offer online education programs and participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). HCCC is dedicated to providing the best possible online student experience. HCCC makes every effort to resolve student complaints internally using policies and procedures outlined in the current HCCC Student Handbook. It is highly recommended that students reach out to the instructor first to try and resolve the issue quickly and amicably.

The institutional complaint process for online students is the same for all students regardless of physical location. It is expected that students will fully utilize all such administrative procedures to address concerns and/or complaints in a timely manner and according to timeframes outlined in the Student Handbook.

Resources, including academic grievance procedures and other formal student complaint processes, can be found in theHCCC Student Handbook.

Complaints must be submitted in writing (email is acceptable). Please include details about the issue, as well as the relevant course number or name, the instructor name, and your name and contact information.

For informal complaints or questions about the student complaint and grievance process for Hudson Online programs at HCCC, please contact the Executive Director, Center for Online Learning, at 201-360-4038 or colFREEHUDSONCOUNTYCOMMUNITYCOLLEGE.

Out-of-State Students: If your complaint is not resolved at the institutional level, then out-of- state students residing in NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement) states, which includes all states except California, may appeal the complaint to the NC-SARA state portal entity in New Jersey. Students have two years from the date of the incident about which the complaint is made to appeal to the SARA State Portal Entity.
