This course introduces students to many of the basic concepts and practices used in the field of forensic science. Topics illustrate the use and relevancy of science in examining forensic evidence, conducting crime-scene investigations, criminalistics, DNA analysis, toxicology, and other current aspects of forensic science. Through a lecture-discussion format and using various laboratory techniques, the course emphasizes principles that govern the activities of chemists in a forensic laboratory.
