Hudson County Community College has partnered with JPMorgan Chase to address the recent unprecedented systemic challenges and rethink what is needed to achieve lasting improvement in the workforce ecosystem. The resulting program, Gateway to Innovation, was launched earlier this year. The program components are:
Stabilize basic supports of HCCC students by enhancing financial health and access to benefits by adding benefits screening, tax assistance and financial counseling.
Engage alumni and expedite the connection to recession resistant work by augmenting career services with curated jobs, career assessment, support groups and online learning.
Recover by promoting rapid attachment to work and expanding access to recession resistant short-term healthcare credentials for Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Hemodialysis Technician and Pharmacy Technician, targeted at dislocated low wage workers from retail, service and hospitality sectors, and low wage essential workers in communities of color.
Prosper by creating projects aligned with recession resistant industries that will position HCCC and the community to thrive in the recovery. The focus will be on deeper employer engagement in finance and tech career pathways with employers in the Finance, Insurance and Healthcare sectors.
