Online programs for two in-demand career options start soon.

May 1, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College’s Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is offering approved certificate programs available to U.S. armed services veterans through their veterans’ benefits. The 3- to 5-month programs are designed to assist participants in embarking upon new, purposeful and sustainable careers in a matter of months.

The Enhanced Patient Access Representative (PAR) program provides participants with a basic understanding of the healthcare delivery system, the role of the Patient Access Representative, and the tools needed to administer exceptional customer service in a medical office or hospital setting. The five-module program is tailored for individuals with little or no experience in the healthcare field, who wish to pursue an entry-level career. Accredited by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), those who complete the program are eligible to take the NAHAM Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) credential exam. HCCC provides assistance in job placement. Online classes will begin on Monday, May 11, 2020.

The Fast-track Patient Care Technician (PCT) program builds upon the Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) credential, and provides advanced skills for performing daily, hands-on care and diagnostic examinations. Program participants earn valued credentials, including the Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomy and EKG Certificates from the National Health Association (NHA); the Basic Life Support Certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA); and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Certificate of Training by National Safety Compliance. Online classes will begin on Monday, May 18, 2020.
