Hudson County Community College Offers Workshops to Prepare for Reentering the Workforce during COVID-19

Online workshops cover career readiness, resumes, job search, interviewing, and more.

 

August 25, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – The Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will present a series of online workshops to assist individuals in marketing themselves effectively and becoming ideal candidates for jobs in a variety of career fields.

In the Wednesday evening online workshops, students will learn how to put their best foot forward during this pandemic. Sessions will cover career exploration and readiness; writing resumes and cover letters that appeal to employers; resume priorities of tracking systems; and strategies for narrowing job searches.

 

Workshops

 

These individual workshops will be conducted by Maria Tejada, Career Services Advisor for the College, who helps students with their career goals. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently completing her Master’s degree in Counseling at Montclair State University. Her career experience also includes entry-level management and banking.

“Career Exploration” topics will include “Focus2Career;” identifying career goals; exploring skills, strengths, and interests; finding needs and resources; and researching a career path, companies, and job roles. September 16, 6 - 8 p.m., $45.

“Career Readiness” focuses on creating a resume and cover letter, and navigating online job boards. September 23, 6 - 8 p.m., $45.

“Using LinkedIn” concentrates on networking, information interviews, researching companies, job trends, and job boards. September 30, 6 - 8 p.m., $45.

“Honing Your Interview Skills” explores creating an elevator pitch, identifying weaknesses and strengths, and mock interviews. October 7, 6 - 8 p.m., $45.

“What to Expect Post Interview” topics include handling job rejection, learning how to negotiate, and managing job offers. October 14, 6 - 8 p.m., $45.
