This is the first of two courses in the Pharmacy Technician program. Course content includes the duties and responsibilities of the pharmacy technician, as well as the mathematical components and the pharmacology foundation necessary to become a pharmacy technician. The course includes pharmacy practice such as handling of infectious and hazardous waste, pharmacologic dose calculations, and interpreting medication orders. The course includes a hands-on lab component where students practice skills through hands-on activities that simulate real-world pharmacy settings.
