Zero-Cost Textbook Courses and the Affordable Textbook Initiative

The increasing costs of textbooks and other educational materials can often represent a barrier to student success. Students attempt to complete classes without purchasing the textbook which can lead to poor academic outcomes.

In the Fall of 2023, Hudson County Community College launched the Affordable Textbook Initiative aimed at reducing textbook costs for students. In the years since the initiative began, over 100 courses have been revised as Zero-Cost Textbook (ZCT) and Low-Cost Textbook (LCT) (Texts are under $45).

When searching for these courses and course sections, choose “A Low Cost Textbook” and/or “A Zero Cost Textbook” under Course Type.
