Career and Transfer Specialist
Luz is a Career and Transfer Specialist in the Career and Transfer Pathways Office.
She supports students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs by
providing guidance in several key areas. Her responsibilities include offering career
services such as resume development, interview preparation, and networking support.
In addition, Luz helps students explore career options aligned with their field of
study and assists them through the transfer process to four-year institutions.
Luz Tellez began her journey in higher education as a part-time Academic Advisor and
has since grown into her current role as a Career and Transfer Specialist at Hudson
County Community College. As a proud first-generation college graduate, Luz understands
the uncertainties students face—especially when navigating the transfer process to
a four-year institution. Having once been in their shoes, she now uses her experience
to guide students through what can often feel like an ambiguous or overwhelming journey.
In her current role, she also supports students preparing for the workforce by helping
them build strong resumes, cover letters, and interview skills. She believes that
networking and professional readiness are skills that must be taught and nurtured—especially
before students enter internships or job opportunities. Luz is passionate about empowering
students to advocate for themselves, pursue meaningful careers, and confidently transition
into the next phase of their academic or professional journey.
