Biography

As a member of the ESL faculty at HCCC, motivation and fostering a community of learners are always central to Ms. Thornton’s teaching. Additionally, she has served as the Chair for the ESL-to-Graduation Celebration Planning Committee, the ESL/ENG/AFE Assessment Coordinator, and as a member of the ESL Scoring Committee. She has a long, exciting "to-do" list for what is to come at Hudson.

Before joining HCCC in 2023, Ms. Thornton was a Senior Academic English Instructor at Drew University where she taught English and academic skills to international students. She cultivated a love of curriculum design through developing courses such as Public Speaking, Conversation Accuracy, English through Virtual Worlds, and Asynchronous Grammar Jam. She began her teaching career as a community college instructor and is thrilled to be back supporting the community college mission.
