Biography

Bernadette oversees the Center for Academic and Student Success (CASS), which focuses on student success from the time students arrive to the time they depart HCCC. In her role, she supports four departments: Advisement, Career Services, Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF), and Transfer Pathways.

Bernadette So joined HCCC in 2023 after many years in career centers at a variety of colleges and universities in the Midwest and Northeast. She is committed to supporting every student in achieving their success by learning about the unique needs of different students, helping to remove barriers, and encouraging students to take advantage of the unexpected.  Bernadette has contributed to her professional communities through affinity groups, publications, presentations, and volunteering. In addition, she has served on boards and committees for the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers (MwACE), the Central Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (CAAHP), the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP), the Graduate Career Consortium (GCC), and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Most recently, she co-chaired the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Ethical Professional Practice Committee for the past two years and serves on the Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity Board.
