May 28, 2026, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) has earned the 2026 “Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges” Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and The EDULedger.
The national award recognizes community and technical colleges that foster working
environments prioritizing staff diversity, inclusive learning, and robust recruitment
and retention practices. The College was selected following a comprehensive review
of its workplace policies, including family-friendly practices, professional development
opportunities, and creating an environment where faculty and staff thrive.

The award specifically acknowledges how Hudson County Community College amplifies voices from all walks of life; works diligently to close achievement gaps among traditionally underrepresented groups; develops culturally relevant curricula; offers training to improve engagement, understanding and respecting differences; supports a Children on Campus Policy; offers generous family and medical leave provisions; allocates up to $9,000 per year for tuition reimbursement for every full-time employee; and utilizes a new and innovative orientation program for incoming faculty and staff.
“We thank NISOD and The EDULedger for this honor,” said HCCC President Dr. Christopher Reber. “This recognition speaks to the culture we have built, prioritizing a supportive environment that encourages our faculty and staff to do their best work on behalf of our students and community.”

NISOD and The EDULedger presented the “Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges” awards during the 48th Annual NISOD Conference: Advancing Community College Student Engagement (ACCSE), May 23-26 in Austin, Texas.
