CPN Seal of Prevention™

Hudson County Community College was awarded the CPN Seal of Prevention™ for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes the College’s commitment to the digital safety, academic excellence, and well-being of its students.

October 21, 2025, Jersey City, NJ – For the third year in a row, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) earned the Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention™ for its exceptional commitment to student wellness and safety.

Presented by Vector Solutions, the CPN Seal of Prevention™ recognizes higher education institutions that create safer campuses through comprehensive, evidence-based education. Issues addressed include alcohol and drug misuse, assault, and mental health. The Seal establishes guidelines for discerning quality prevention education and implementation, and positions prevention as central to key institutional outcomes such as student success, campus climate, and retention.

“Maintaining a safe campus environment extends beyond bricks and mortar,” said HCCC President Dr. Christopher Reber. “We are dedicated to ensuring our students enjoy a nurturing and inclusive environment – on-site and online – so they may flourish academically, achieve their goals, and cultivate friendships. The CPN Seal of Prevention™ is a testament to our ongoing commitment of providing a culture of care.”

The CPN Seal of Prevention™ criteria are based on the “Principles of Effective Prevention Programs” (Nation, et al., 2003): comprehensive services, varied teaching methods, sufficient exposure to activity, theory-driven programs, opportunities for positive relationships, appropriate timing, sociocultural relevance, outcome evaluation, and well-trained staff. Over 1,400 campuses and organizations were evaluated to determine eligibility for the 2025 Seal. Seal of Prevention™ recipients have, on average, an 8.3% higher first-year retention rate and a 9.6% higher on-time graduation rate compared to non-Seal institutions.

“The CPN Seal of Prevention™ recipients represent the top institutions nationwide, underscoring their commitment to academic excellence and the well-being of their students,” said Jonathan Cherins, CEO at Vector Solutions. “Our team at Vector Solutions is proud to recognize the great value these leading institutions and organizations are providing students and the commitment we share to making higher education communities safer and stronger.”
