October 22, 2025, Jersey City, NJ – Naoual Daoud, a computer science student at Hudson County Community College (HCCC) in Jersey City, New Jersey, has received the Chime Workforce Scholarship from the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation.

The Chime Workforce Scholarship recognizes high-achieving college students who are pursuing career and technical education opportunities. This scholarship helps defray educational expenses for students enrolled in a certificate or associate degree workforce development program at a two-year college. The scholarship provided by Chime will help students cover costs of tuition, fees, and other expenses.

“At the Chime Scholars Foundation, we believe career and technical education open doors to financial progress and long-term opportunity. We’re proud to support students who are working hard to gain in-demand skills and build better futures for themselves and their families,” said Jeni Izuel, president of the Chime Scholars Foundation.

Daoud is one of 200 students to receive the Chime Workforce Scholarships. "We are thrilled to launch this new program and award hardworking students with Chime Workforce Scholarships,” said Amanda Karpinski Gorman, interim director of the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation. “These scholarships support students pursuing career and technical education at two-year colleges, and we look forward to seeing all they go on to accomplish."

Naoual reflected on what the award of the scholarship means to her, stating “Receiving the Chime Scholarship has not only eased the burden of tuition but also given me hope, courage, and motivation to keep pursuing my dreams. I truly believe that knowledge and education are powerful, yet financial challenges and uncertainty about the future can feel overwhelming. To my fellow students: believe in yourselves, keep trying, and keep striving – you will make it. To the donors: your generosity creates opportunities, sparks hope, and truly makes a meaningful difference in students’ lives.”

“We are exceedingly proud of Naoual’s achievement and grateful to the Chime Scholars Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa Foundation for recognizing and supporting our students’ hard work,” said HCCC President Dr. Christopher Reber. “This scholarship helps alleviate the financial burden of higher education and empowers students like Naoual to continue building brighter futures for themselves, their families, and our community.”
