Enhanced Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Training

 

About This Class

In this New Jersey State Approved Certified Nurse Aide program, students will be prepared for the N.J. Department of Health and Senior Services Skills and Written Examination. The course will consist of classroom and clinical setting instruction. Typical work settings for graduates of CNA programs are primary long-term care facilities with some students securing employment in hospital acute care facilities. In addition, students will receive additional instruction in medical terminology, fundamental workplace skills, and certifications in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and Dementia Care.

Preparation 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or Work Authorization Visa with valid social security number 
  • 9th Grade Proficiency on the TABE Test, students currently enrolled in HCCC are exempt (minimum G.P.A. of 2.0) 
  • Must be at least 18 years old 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent  
  • Submission of a criminal background check and fingerprinting prior to certification 
  • **Submission of medical clearance/immunization records and one of the following:  
    1. Two-step PPD skin test for TB, negative results twice within a 30-day period
    2. QuantiFERON-TB-Gold test 
    3. Negative chest x-ray (done within past 2 years)
