Basic French I

Online

This course is designed for those who have little to no knowledge of the French language. During this course students will develop basic communication skills through practice in listening, speaking, reading, writing and role playing.

By the end of the course student will have developed the ability to communicate in predictable and everyday scenarios. They will achieve basic grammatical structure and vocabulary as well as be able to understand commonly used words.

  • Week 1: Learn how to introduce yourself and others in French. Learn about the various greetings, mannerism within the French culture etc.. Explore the basics of French grammar nouns articles and descriptive adjectives. Learn the most common French irregular verbs (être et avoir) as well as negation.
  • Week 2: Learn about numbers, time, days, dates, months, verbs (er), colors and seasons. Present tense, regular(ir)verbs in present tense, interrogative and interrogative words.
  • Week 3: Regular(re) verbs in the present tense and (er)verbs with spelling changes. Expressing the future with verbs such as “aller” and “faire” and prepositions. Irregular verbs and constructive verbs.
  • Week 4: Continuation of irregular verbs + relative pronouns. Review of previous weeks.
  • Week 5: Practice – Project presentation – Additional resources. The course is structured to ensure the concept learned in the beginning are reinforced with each class to enhance language retention.

Homework will be assigned at the end of each session. Homework completion is strongly advised as it’s proactive to a successful experience. Students will also be asked to form groups of two people to practice conversation.

Basic French II

Online

Bien Venue to French 2, it is assumed that the students have successfully completed a level1 course or are at a mid level of proficiency. The online course is structured to reinforce their knowledge of acquiring the information provided and obtained through conversation and exchange of opinions.

The students have to practice, putting their pieces together in meaningful and purposeful ways. The course focuses on the continued development of communicative competence in the target language and gaining an understanding of the culture of the people who speak the language. The major means of communication between students and instructors will be in the target language. Because students may begin formal language learning at various stages of their cognitive development, teachers must adjust vocabulary and content in in order to reflect developmentally appropriate interests.

By the end of Level II, students will exhibit Novice-Mid level proficiency in speaking and writing and Novice-High level proficiency in listening and reading.

  • Week 1: students will describe themselves and others; express preferences and compare themselves to others. Students talk about their daily routine.
  • Week 2: le monde francophone: welcome to the French speaking world. How those countries came up speaking French. Learn about geoculture and compare it to our culture in the US. sport events as coup du monde de football. La petanque
  • Week 3: to ask for information when you don't know . To ask for and give opinion when you having conversation with your friends
  • Week 4: Offer, accept, and refuse food while at the restaurant with friend Inquire about food and place a order Ask about prices and pay the check
  • Week 5: you are going to describe the plan for your day by using the day of the week, time, and weather. Practice how to ask or give directions even requesting something.
