Government BoD Scam

If you receive an email claiming they are from The Federal Government Board of Directors, and are asked to get back to them without delay, do not attempt to do so for this is a phishing attempt.​ The email is fraudulent and should be deleted immediately.

 

Account Owner Scam

Lottery Donation Scam

If you receive an email about a lottery donation, immediately delete it without opening it. This is a phishing attempt.​ If you clicked on this link, please change your password immediately. When ITS sees that your account has been affected by this compromise, ITS will disable your account to protect you and the community. ITS may need to add more security features to your account once it has been compromised. Contact the Help Desk with any questions.

 

E-Card Scam

April 16, 2019

Scammers have released emails which appear to be from a friend or relative. This email will tell you to click a link, copy and paste a link to a browser, or visit a website with a pickup code. The resulting website attempts to gather personal information to conduct financial fraud or to disseminate malware. Be careful with links in emails similar to this. Verify with your friend or relative via another means that they meant to send you an e-card.

 

Display Button Scam

February 5, 2019

​Malicious actors are continuing to use compromised email accounts to send messages with button, leading to several compromised websites.
 
If you receive an email with only a button in the body, and a tagline like "Hccc 07:45_31 05-February-2019." forward to spamFREEHUDSONCOUNTYCOMMUNITYCOLLEGE or delete it immediately. The button may have the following phrases on it:

• display message
• display complete
• display full
• display this
• display trusted message

As with all email, if you have a doubt about the contents of a message, call the sender and verify that it was sent on purpose.
