Disbursement, Attendance, and Withdrawal

Federal financial aid is awarded on the assumption that you will attend classes for the entire term. Aid is not disbursed until the College confirms that you have begun attendance in the applicable courses.

If you never begin attendance in one or more courses, you are not eligible for the aid tied to those courses, and your award may be reduced or canceled accordingly.

If you withdraw officially, unofficially, or otherwise stop attending before the term ends, the Financial Aid Office will recalculate your eligibility under federal regulations. Depending on how much aid was disbursed and how much of the term you completed, that recalculation may reduce your aid or require funds to be returned to the federal programs, which can leave a balance owed to the College.

Before you drop a class, talk to the Financial Aid Office. A single withdrawal can change your disbursement, your refund, and what you owe.
