Prepare to Teach Online with Confidence
The Hudson Online Faculty Training Course, also known as ONL-101, is a seven-unit, self-paced professional development program for faculty preparing to teach online at Hudson County Community College. Through the training, faculty build practical skills in navigating Canvas, applying Hudson Online Teaching Guidelines and best practices in online teaching, integrating educational technologies, using AI responsibly, creating accessible multimedia, and connecting students with relevant support services.

Faculty who complete all course requirements earn the Effective Online Teaching Digital Badge in Parchment, awarded by the Center for Online Learning.
Who Should Complete the Training?
Faculty teaching an online course at HCCC for the first time are required to complete the training before their assigned online course begins. Late registrants must complete the training before the end of the 7-week term.
The course can also benefit experienced online instructors who would like to refresh their Canvas skills, explore new teaching technologies, or review current Hudson Online Teaching Guidelines and best practices.

A sandbox is a private practice course in Canvas. It allows faculty to explore course settings, design pages, and test tools without affecting an active course or enrolled students.
Faculty who complete all course requirements earn the Effective Online Teaching Digital Badge in Parchment from the Center for Online Learning.
