Incubation Center

NSF Advanced Technical Education Award

HCCC is proud to announce the Construction Management program has received an Advanced Technology Education grant award of $300,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

To groom business skills among students and to expose them to important aspects of running their own construction business, the Center for Construction Management (CCM) at Hudson County Community College, in collaboration with the Office of Continuing Education as a part of NSF Grant, has started an Incubation Center as a pilot program on educating students how to start and run their own construction business. Entrepreneurial education cultivates innovative talents, which are an essential driving force for future development.

Students are trained in:

  • How to write a business plan
  • Register their business
  • Cost Estimation
  • Bidding Process
  • Contract Preparation and Negotiation
  • Project Management

Connections are developed with the local state, county, and mayor’s offices to expose students to various ongoing construction projects. Representatives from the local construction businesses, chambers of commerce, and small enterprises deliver presentations and educate students in pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors.

The successful students who establish their businesses serve as mentors for future students.
