About the Academic Administrative Association

The Hudson County Community College Academic Administrative Association is the exclusive and sole representative for collective negotiations concerning grievances and terms and conditions of employment for all members of the bargaining unit presently employed and hereinafter employed by the Board, including:

  • Directors
  • Assistant Directors
  • Associate Directors
  • Associate Deans
  • Assistant Deans
  • Managers
  • Student Activities Coordinator
  • Assistant Vice President
  • Publications Coordinator
  • Superintendent of Plant Operations
  • Controller
  • Systems Administrator
  • Program Analyst
  • Microcomputer Analyst
  • Assistant to the Dean
  • Head Librarian
  • Admissions Officers
  • Admissions Recruiters
  • Financial Assistance Specialists
  • Continuing Education Assistants
  • Registrar
  • Manager of Purchasing Services
  • Budget Coordinator
  • Student Accounts Supervisor
  • Counselors and Program Coordinators employed by the College, or any other position/title at the College where a Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

The bargaining unit does not generally include instructional staff, faculty, non-professional support staff, security, maintenance workers, confidential employees, and non-supervisory employees.

How to Join:
While all eligible employees are covered by the provisions in the bargaining unit, only dues-paying members are entitled to full involvement in the Academic Administrative Association, which includes attending union meetings, voting for officers and agreements, participating in negotiating teams, NJEA discounts, and full representation by the union in certain grievance matters. Employees are eligible to become full, dues-paying members after 90 days of employment and will be sent a membership form. Eligible employees are required to opt-in in order to receive full benefits, as the process does not occur automatically.
