Description

The Computer Technology Program is designed to train students in the theoretical and practical aspects of computer technology through a balanced hardware, software, and systems curriculum which includes the disciplines of electronics engineering technology and computer science. Graduates of the Computer Technology Program are prepared to participate directly in the design, analysis, development, and testing of computers and computer related equipment. The graduate may transfer, with full two-year credit, into existing baccalaureate degree programs in engineering technology.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Computer Technology program requirements, students will be able to:

  1. Select and apply knowledge of mathematics, science and programming to engineering technology problems.
  2. Function effectively as a member or a leader of a technical team.
  3. Use appropriate laboratory and test equipment such as multi-meters, DC power supplies, function generators and oscilloscopes.
  4. Learn programming languages, operating systems environments, microprocessor fundamentals and how to decipher user needs to help you gain the experience employers value.
  5. Get hands-on, in class experience that can help prepare you with the skills for writing, implementing and testing software programs that drive modern electronic devices.
  6. Demonstrate technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify problems, conduct experiments, gather data, and analyze data.
  7. Learn programming languages, operating systems environments, microprocessor fundamentals and how to decipher user needs to help you gain the experience employers value.
  8. Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments.
