Accounting AS - Fully Online

HCCC’s accounting program is a stepping stone to such a career. You will be taught by accounting professionals with years of experience who will help you to succeed in the field.  A four-year degree is needed to secure a solid job in accounting/finance as well as to sit for the CPA exam. HCCC’s program is designed to give you the first two years of a four-year accounting degree The degree will also provide a solid background for junior-level entry into the accounting workplace.

Andres knew he had made the right choice in attending HCCC.

 

Taking classes at HCCC means taking a step closer towards ultimate professional success. That journey starts today! If you can believe it, just five years ago I had no background in accounting and I did not know  what I wanted to do in my life. HCCC gave me the start I needed and with the guidance and support from professors, I eventually got my associate’s degree. Now it is 2020 and I just passed the CPA exam with a master’s degree in Accounting. Your dreams start at HCCC.

Jieun felt that coming to HCCC for the first two years was one of the best decisions she made.

 

I graduated from HCCC in December 2018 and I will be graduating from Rutgers University Newark – Business School in December 2020. I intend to complete my 150 credits to sit for the CPA exam and to become a CPA by 2021. The knowledge I have gained from HCCC accounting program prepared me for Rutgers University and to secure a position at KPMG, May 2021. My experience in the Accounting program at HCCC is quite memorable and I hope to share my experiences with students who are interested in the accounting field.

Transfer opportunities

The majority of our students transfer to neighboring colleges, in particular Rutgers, to earn their Baccalaureate degree in accounting. Articulation agreements exist with these colleges and several of them have on-site local advisors ensuring that our student do not lose credits when they transfer.

Why Accounting?

A career in accounting will provide an opportunity to specialize in different areas. Some areas you can specialize in include Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Tax Accounting, Accounting Information systems, Internal Auditing, External Auditing, Management consulting as well Government and Not for profit Accounting. In addition you could end up working for the FBI, IRS, or SEC as these Government agencies hire many accountants.

Career Opportunities: 

Regardless of how the economy is doing, there is a need for accountants. For those continuing their education, opportunities exist in areas such as staff accountant and auditor at accounting firms as well as many businesses. For those not continuing, opportunities exist for bookkeeping, accounts payable clerk, accounts receivable clerk, and payroll clerk.

Salary:

According  to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the median pay for accountants is $71,550 but in the New York area it is $98,650. The median pay for Bookkeeping and accounting clerks is $41,230 but the median pay in the New York area, it is $47,220.
